With 35% of the world’s annual fresh water supply used to irrigate rice, Lotus Foods is dedicated to the innovative and sustainable production of this staple crop consumed by more than 4 billion people daily. By improving the soil ecology and arrangement of traditional rice paddies, their proprietary System of Rice Intensification (SRI) saved an estimated 528 million gallons of water in 2015 while simultaneously cutting the required labor in half for the women dominated work force that cultivates rice.
