Organic Forbidden Rice is a premium heirloom varietal sometimes known as "long life rice." It's a striking black color that transforms into a rich purple hue when cooked and has medium grains. It's beloved for its delicious toasted-nut flavor, soft texture, and nutritional contents (it's a natural source of magnesium, protein, and fiber). Lotus Foods' forbidden rice is grown on small family farms in the Black Dragon River region of China's sub-arctic Northeast provinces.
