Koolfi Creamery
Koolfi Creamery is a family-owned and operated business, ran by wife and wife team creating what they love - ice cream. Priti, the ice cream and flavor engineer and Mads, her business partner, were hit by a bus while walking back in 2014, thus making a long time for recovery. This was a blessing in disguise as Priti, who had a break from engineering, found a passion for food making ice cream. Quitting her job, they began an ice cream business. Aligning with their sustainable practices, but also loving their products, they use Straus' dairy products for their ice cream. Additionally, they source ingredients from local and family-owned businesses, using real spices and seasonal fruits in their ice cream. They use mint, lemons, nectarines, avocados and cherries from their very own backyard in our ice cream as well. They source organic coconut milk and nuts for their vegan flavors, which is very commonly used in Indian desserts. Their ice cream is inspired by two distinct culinary traditions - rich American ice cream and the distinct, unparalleled dessert traditions of their South Indians families, passed on through generations of women. They churn the ice cream one gallon at a time in a family-owned ice cream factory in San Leandro. Their motto is “simple ingredients, complex flavors”! Like the famous Madras silk saris and scarfs with vibrant two-tones, Koolfi Creamery's ice cream will delight you with different flavors and textures at the front and back of your palate. Believing that kindness starts at home, Koolfi Cremaery aims to exist and grow as a kind and sustainable business that cares for its staff and makes a positive impact in the local community.
