Estrellita's Snacks
San Francisco, CA
Estrellita’s Snacks Snacks was started by Maria Del Carmen, a hardworking woman with a passion for food and making people happy. She started her business with $20, which, she used to purchase the plantains, oil and salt for her tostadas, the $20 turned into $300 and soon after she began to sell freshly fried plantain and yucca chips to local business owners and families that missed the taste and crunch of tostadas from El Salvador. Shortly after, Estrellita’s Snacks was born.
After her success selling tostadas (plantain chips), she decided to expand her business by selling Pupusas, a Salvadorian staple, which is a traditional dish made of a thick, handmade corn tortilla that is usually filled with a blend of different toppings. Since expanding and selling pupusas Estrellita’s Snacks now offers up to 13 different options at their locations in Heart of the City's Farmers Market at Civic Center (Wed./Sun.) and Alemany Farmers Market (Sat./Sun.)
