Bob's Red Mill
Milwaukie, Oregon
Bob’s Red Mill was founded in 1977 near Oregon City by Bob Moore, and now operates a 320,000 sq. ft. facility in Milwaukee, OR, employing about 205 people. All of the company’s flour products are milled on site with quartz mill-stone, as opposed to modern steel bladed mills, in order to avoid losing the nutritional value of the bran, endosperm and germ that is normally lost in conventional heat-intensive milling processes.
From Good Eggs: Why We Love Bob's Red MillIn 2010 Bob Moore announced that he was relinquishing ownership of the company to his employees, and Bob’s Red Mill is now an employee-owned company. All employees with three or more years employment at the company were immediately vested as owners.
Good Eggs offers baking products and grains produced by Bob's Red Mill because of their product quality, great value and employee ownership. Their facility is HACCP-certified, and they also maintain a 23,000 square foot gluten free facility. All of their products originate from identity-preserved, non-GMO seeds. This means that the seed planted in the ground to produce the grain that Bob’s uses is non-GMO.
