In the late 1970s, shortly after moving to San Francisco from a refugee camp in Guam, Charles Phan's mother got a job at a sewing shop in Chinatown. She lived in the Mission, so while waiting for the bus with other women, she picked up this recipe for peanut sauce. It's been a crowd favorite ever since. Creamy and thick, this peanut sauce goes well with spring rolls and fresh shrimp.
Ingredients: roasted peanuts, sticky rice, water, shallot oil, lemon juice, Thai chiles, garlic, sesame oil, ketchup, vegetarian stir fry sauce, miso, sugar.
Contains: peanuts, soy, wheat, sesame.
