Papalote Mexican Grill
Papalote Mexican Grill opened its doors on February 17, 1999, in the heart of the San Francisco Mission District. The purpose of Papalote Mexican Grill is to prepare outstanding Mission District-inspired dishes with the freshest meats and produce available, and to serve them in a comfortable and exciting atmosphere. The focus of Papalote Mexican Grill’s menu is the Mission District burrito, which celebrates our Mexican Culture and the Traditions of the Mission District. With the belief that every Mexican restaurant should have a salsa that embodies the essence of the concept, Papalote Roasted Tomato Salsa embodies the spirit of Papalote Mexican Grill. Papalote Roasted Tomato Salsa is the culmination of nearly 50 years of family tradition, secret recipes, and culinary expertise.
In 2010 Food Network decided to send Bobby Flay to challenge Papalote to a burrito throwdown on his show Throwdown! with Bobby Flay. We were very fortunate to have had the opportunity to cook side by side with this amazing chef. The icing on the cake was being crowned the winners of the Throwdown! Chef Flay was very gracious and he even went on to praise our beloved house salsa and proclaim it “the secret weapon”!
