Lubanzi Wines

In 2014, two friends (and future cofounders) living in South Africa as exchange students decided to embark on a backpacking expedition along South Africa’s Southern Coast to the Wild Coast. They wanted to travel throughout South Africa to search for opportunities to make a difference in the world. Along the way, a wandering dog whom the locals called “Lubanzi'' began following the pair on their adventure. On the second to last day of the journey, Lubanzi disappeared in the middle of the night, leaving a lasting impression on them. In 2016, Lubanzi was born, named after the wandering dog, with a mission to craft sustainably farmed, fair trade wines whilst creating a difference in the lives of the laborers of the wine farms. Lubanzi Wines partners with Pebbles Project, a non-profit that helps to provide communities that work on wine farms access to better education and healthcare. Lubanzi Wines are a Certified B Corporation, along with being sustainably farmed certified by SAWIS and fair trade certified by Fair for Life. Other callouts include being a member of 1% for the Planet and certified Carbon Neutral by Climate Neutral. Lubanzi Wines believes that businesses have the power to change the world - through changing how people think, helping the earth with better supply chains, and sharing stories that can be a catalyst for equity, inclusivity, and justice.
