Little Apple Treat’s Apple Cider Vinegar is a Good Food Awards 2019 Pantry winner! The Good Food Foundation judges over 2000 entries in 16 style categories, submitted by craft food producers from all 50 states. Each entry must top the charts in a blind tasting and meet strict environmental and social responsibility standards to be considered as a finalist. Only about 200 winners are crowned, recognizing outstanding quality and flavor.
Little Apple Treat's Apple Cider Vinegar is made slowly and with care, using only the best apples grown on their organic farm in Sebastopol. They press the juice by hand on a wooden press, using only hand-picked, sound, organic apples (unlike the industry standard, which allows any apple less than 50% rotten to be used). It takes 120 pounds of apples to get 5 gallons of juice on our press! That juice is fermented into hard cider, then aged in French oak wine barrels for a year or more. When it's ready, this apple cider vinegar emotes both smoky tannins at the bottom and floral notes at the top. It's bottled right out of the barrel: no filtration, no pasteurization, no dilution with water.
