Founded in 1790, King Arthur Flour was a family-owned business for five generations. By the 1990s, Frank and Brinna Sands were looking to retire, and they wanted to be sure King Arthur Flour would be in good and caring hands. They looked to a different kind of family: their employees. By 2004, the company was 100% employee owned.
