Jacobs Farm began as a small organic family farm on California’s Central Coast, founded by Larry Jacobs and Sandra Belin. In 1986, Jacobs and Belin brought their agricultural experience, knowledge of markets and their vision of social change to rural Baja California, where many farmers were struggling to make ends meet. The Del Cabo farming cooperative was launched with eight farmers. Today, more than 400 farmers work the land that has been with their families for generations, enjoying a much-improved quality of life and providing an environmentally sustainable economic engine for their families and their communities.
Jacobs Farm has been dedicated to producing sustainable crops of healthy, flavorful food for three decades. More than sixty varieties of fresh culinary herbs and edible flowers are produced for local California customers, as well as distributed nationwideand to Canada. The Del Cabo farming collective offers a year-round selection of high-quality organic fruits and vegetables grown on the Baja California peninsula.
Jacobs Farm now consists of seven farming sites located along California’s Central Coast, from Watsonville to Pescadero, while Del Cabo’s cooperative of farms now spans the entire length of the Baja California peninsula. Together, Jacobs Farm / Del Cabo includes nearly four thousand certified organic field and greenhouse acres.
Our mission is not only to grow great tasting, healthy food, but to grow it in a socially responsible and economically sustainable manner. The Del Cabo business model is unique: we teach and support organic farming methods and sustainable business practices to help communities with small-scale farming operations become prosperous. Providing tools, knowledge, funding and access to international markets, we have helped over 400 farming families and their communities.
We believe that farming organically is the key to the long-term prosperity of our soils and our planet. We're committed to ensuring the health and safety of the people who grow our crops as well as those who consume them. Jacobs Farm / Del Cabo has never used toxic, persistent pesticides or herbicides on any of its crops or soils, and all of our field acres and greenhouses are certified organic by Oregon Tilth. Quality and food safety have always been a top priority for us. Our rigorous food safety program includes innovative technology and some of the most advanced safety procedures in the food industry.
