Idlewild
Idlewild is a reflection of founder and winemaker Sam Bilbro’s lifelong connection to wine, blending his childhood spent in wineries with a deep appreciation for Italy’s Piedmont. Located in Mendocino County, Idlewild focuses on cultivating varieties like Arneis, Cortese, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo, grown in their signature Lost Hills Ranch and sourced from other unique vineyards such as Fox Hill and Las Cimas. Each vineyard, from the rolling ridges of Yorkville Highlands to the rocky bench-lands of Central Mendocino, contributes its own character to Idlewild’s wines.
With an emphasis on sustainable viticulture and minimalist winemaking, Idlewild balances depth and vibrancy, allowing the purity of the fruit and the essence of the land to shine. Their wines are crafted to evoke the intrigue and beauty of Piedmont, translated through the terroir of California.
The Idlewild team operates a cooperative winery near Healdsburg, sharing resources and camaraderie with like-minded winemakers. Their tasting room, nestled just off the Healdsburg plaza, invites visitors to experience the artistry of Idlewild with a glass of wine and thoughtfully curated pairings.
