Idlewild Wines was founded with the vision of crafting distinctive, Piedmontese-inspired wines from the elevated, rugged vineyards of Northern California. Located in Healdsburg, California, Idlewild is the passion project of Sam Bilbro, a fourth-generation Sonoma vintner, in collaboration with David Drummond and Thomas DeBiase of Overshine Wine Co. Together, they explore and cultivate Italian grape varieties like Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo, focusing on organic vineyard practices and minimal intervention winemaking to highlight the character of each grape and region.

The heart of Idlewild lies in its commitment to gracious hospitality—both through its wines and its inviting Healdsburg tasting room, which offers guided tastings and curated cheese and salumi pairings. Breaking away from the more formal traditions of the wine industry, Idlewild embraces an approachable, welcoming ethos, making wine an experience of connection, joy, and discovery rather than exclusivity.

As part of Overshine Wine Co., Idlewild is deeply rooted in California’s diverse wine landscape. David Drummond, a Sonoma winegrower, brings a community-driven approach to winemaking, aiming to create an inclusive space for all wine lovers. Through Las Cimas Vineyard, one of Overshine’s flagship sites, the team has introduced more than 40 different grape varieties, including several that are the first outside of Italy. This pioneering spirit is at the core of Idlewild’s winemaking philosophy, blending old-world inspiration with California’s boundless potential.
