Broc Cellars
Berkeley, CA
Broc Cellars is an urban winery located in Berkeley, California. It was founded in 2002 by Chris Brockway to make wines using organically or biodynamically grown grapes from unique wine growing regions in Northern California. Many of these regions are at high elevations with rocky soils, where the grapes have to struggle to survive. They believe that this contributes to the character and complexity of the grapes.
In order to let this character come through in the wines, they use minimal cellar intervention. They use native yeasts from the grapes to spark fermentation and use minimal sulphur at bottling. This gentle treatment means that when you taste a wine from Broc Cellars, you can experience the true original character of the grapes and the land.
