Brazilian Breads
Oakland, CA
Delvira Rodrigues always loved food. She learned how to make pao de queijo ("cheese breads" in Portuguese) during childhood trips to her grandmother’s home in Minas Gerais, the state that originated the pao de queijo in the 18th century. When she moved to the Bay Area she made it her mission of finding fresh and local ingredients to make food just like she used to have back home. After 6 years of searching ingredients and tinkering with recipes, Delvira finally was ready to create her company: Brazilian Breads.
Brazilian Bread specializes in authentic handmade pao de queijo, and since 2015 has been popularizing the puffy, palm-sized cheese bread rolls. In February 2018, Brazilian Breads opened a Cafe in Berkeley to share the authentic experience of a tapiocaria (cafés in Brazil that specialize in cheese bread, tapioca-flour crêpes, yuca sticks, açaí bowls and strong Brazilian coffee), with freshly prepared healthy, quick, and delicious food—just like you would in Brazil.
