The word Sapote comes from the Aztec Nahuatl language, where tzapotl is used to talk about many soft, sweet fruits. This White Sapote, also known as casimiroa or Mexican Apple, has a custard-like texture when ripe and a mildy sweet, tropical flavor that has notes of banana, mango, pineapple and guava. Sapotes are ripe when their green skin has turned slightly yellow and they give ever so slightly to the touch.
