Viriditas Farm

Sally Fox of Viriditas Farm has been breeding and raising organic merino sheep for wool and meat since the early 1980s. Their certified biodynamic farm is located in the Capay Valley. To create a healthy biodynamic system, they integrate growing cotton, grain, hay, legumes, and raising sheep. The sheep help to break down plant material left after crop harvests as well as fertilize the soil, and are free to graze about 130 acres of land. They’re processed humanely at a USDA facility in Dixon, CA. While the Dixon facility isn’t certified organic, Sally's farm and sheep certified CCOF and she has reached Demeter Certification, which is "a step beyond organic" and works to help farmers actively improve their environment through healthy farming.
