These turkeys are raised by True Story partners like on Pitman Family Farms, a family-owned business that has been raising poultry for three generations in Sanger, California. Don Pitman began raising free-range turkey and chickens in 1954 and was soon joined by his son Rick. Today, Rick’s sons, David and Ben, carry on the family tradition. From the beginning, the Pitman family has been focused on animal husbandry and welfare. Their organic turkeys have access to the outdoors with ample water and shade. Additionally, they have environmental enrichments, such as straw bales for pecking and eucalyptus tree branches for playing. The organic turkeys are fed a certified organic vegetarian diet, free of genetically modified organisms and synthetic amino acids.
