Wild Huckleberries are some of the best berries to eat yet can be one of the hardest berries to pick. With a very short season (late summer) Huckleberries can yield a few handfuls of berries in a days pick and stretch miles of hunting. Huckleberries are usually described as being a lot like Blueberries in appearance and Blackberries in taste and texture. Huckleberries are tart and buttery with a juicy texture and can be as large as a Blueberry or a small a Currant. Ideal for adding into pancakes, muffins, oatmeal and yogurt. They also make wonderful preserves and freeze well.
