A favorite among fishmongers, black cod (also known as sablefish) is known for its rich oil content and its velvety texture. Black Cod is famously good with a miso glaze, but this is a forgiving fish that will hold up beautifully to any cooking method. It's hard to mess this one up!
Sea to Shore Seafood Co.'s black cod is caught hook and line in the waters of Southeast Alaska by the fishing vessel, Kruzof. A small crew of fisherman catch and process each black cod as they come aboard, and are immediately blast frozen on board, locking in the fresh, straight out of the ocean taste. The fishery is closely monitored by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game as well as the North Pacific Fishery Management Council to ensure sustainability.
