Brining your turkey or chicken helps retain moisture, keeping everything juicy and full of flavor. Oaktown Spice Shop's new Smoky Brine Mix is a blend of smoked sea salt and flavorful spices. It makes 1.5 gallons of brine—enough for one medium turkey, or two whole chickens. For an extra-large turkey, pick up two packages of brine mix! Instructions are on the package for easy reference.
Instructions: add contents of packet to 3 qts of water and simmer for 10 min. Allow to cool, then add enough ice to solution to make 6 qts total liquid. Pour brine into double-lined plastic bag containing bird and refrigerate for 8-12 hrs (overnight). Rinse and pat dry before cooking.
Ingredients: smoked sea salt, pure cane sugar, yellow mustard, chile flakes, cinnamon, celery seed, bay leaves, juniper berries, white & black peppercorns, cloves, allspice, ginger, orange zest, other spices.
