Lucien Crochet
Lucien Crochet is a renowned family-owned domaine located in Bué, within the Sancerre region of the Loire Valley, France. The estate was formed from the union of two winegrowing families, André Crochet and Lucien Picard. Lucien Picard, a trailblazer in the 1950s, was one of the first to bottle Sancerre wines and bring them to the Paris market. Over the last 30 years, Lucien Crochet expanded the vineyard to its current size of 38 hectares, which is now managed by his son, Gilles.
Of the 38 hectares, 29 are dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc, producing their range of white wines, while the remaining 9 hectares are planted with Pinot Noir for their red and rosé wines. The majority of their vineyards are located in Bué, with additional plots in the communes of Sancerre, Crézancy, and Vinon. The vineyards thrive on clay-limestone soils that date back to the Oxfordian and Kimmeridgian stages, benefiting from southern, south-western, and south-eastern exposure, creating ideal growing conditions for the grapes. This careful cultivation produces wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.
