Lavva
Newman, CA
Lavva's founder Elizabeth Fisher wanted a plant-based yogurt that didn’t taste like an “alternative.” When she couldn’t find one, she decided to make her own. Lavva starts with a luscious blend of sprouted Pili nuts ("peel-ee"), prebiotic-rich young plantains, silky coconut, and cassava. Next, they add a special blend of live, vegan probiotic cultures to bring the yogurt to life, and then finish each flavor with 100% real fruit—free of added sugar, gums, or stabilizers. The result is indulgently creamy plant-based yogurt with zero added sugar, prebiotics, and 50 billion probiotics in every cup (not to mention plenty of healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals).
Unlike almonds, Pili nuts require very little water and create zero waste. Known in the Philippines as “The Tree of Hope,” Pili trees are grown sustainably on biodiverse farms and thrive in volcanic soil. Besides using nuts for food and oil (and yogurt!), the tree’s shells and bark are used for furniture, and the sap is used in cosmetics. Lavva is proud to lead the world’s first fair-trade and organically certified pili cooperative, partnering with over 120 farms in the Philippines. All Lavva products are naturally vegan, paleo, keto-friendly, and Whole30 compliant.
