Hawthorne Foods
Two decades ago, Hawthorne Foods began its journey in the cellar of Hawthorne Valley Farm, where our first batch of sauerkraut came to life. Since then, we've dedicated ourselves to mastering the art of fermentation, producing a range of ready-to-eat vegetables that are not just flavorful and colorful but truly alive. Each jar is a simple, yet transformative addition to any meal, infusing dishes with the vibrant essence of the Hudson Valley.
Our commitment to quality starts from the ground up, literally. The vegetables that form the heart of our products are grown regeneratively by our organic family farm partners, with whom we work directly. These stewards of the land employ practices that nurture living soil, ensuring the growth of the finest vegetables. This dedication to regenerative agriculture not only produces the best possible ingredients for our ferments but also supports the health of our planet.
At Hawthorne Foods, we strive to be a force for good in every aspect of our business. From reinvesting 1% of sales back into our small organic family-farm partners to achieving B Corp certification in 2023, our efforts are rooted in a deep belief in the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profit. Providing living-wage jobs in our community and fostering a sustainable food system are integral to our mission.
As a certified B Corp, we are committed to continuous improvement, using the certification as a framework to enhance our impact. Our line of wild-fermented, ready-to-eat vegetables is more than just food; it's a reflection of our commitment to living soil, living wages, and living foods, embodying the transformational power of beneficial microbes. Join us on our mission to brighten the world, one jar of fermented vegetables at a time.
