This California-grown avocado is a Mexican-type variety that was first developed and is most popular in Israel but was brought to the United States in 1954. The Ettinger is a thin- and green-skinned avocado, so you'll know it's ripe when it gives slightly to light pressure. The Ettinger is slightly milder in flavor than the more common Hass Avocado, and it's rich in Vitamins B, C, and K, and potassium.
