Organic Starflower

These Organic Starflowers are actually the long-lasting and showy fruits of the plant Scabiosa stellata. Jutting vertically up their stems are papery cones which cluster together and form a lightweight geodesic sphere, which highlights the remnants of its bloom in the form of a perfect, thinly-stretched star. Starflowers are available for a short period during the late spring and early-summer, but their vase life (which nears three weeks) makes them treasured table-top decorations that are a sure conversation piece.
