As Drakes approached their 1500th batch of beer brewed in San Leandro, the brewers decided to attempt something special. Their goal: a pale ale with a clean, stripped down malt bill and plenty of late addition hops. They wanted a beer with huge flavors and bright aromas of citrus peel and hints of pine—and not too bitter. Their result, 1500 Pale Ale, packs the aromatic and flavorful hop punch of a West Coast-style IPA at a very drinkable 5.5% ABV.
