Cote de Nuits St. Martin Monopole Rouge

This 100% Pinot Noir comes from the St. Martin monopole, which is a rare area of land in Burgundy that is controlled entirely by one winery.  A notable example of a Monopole that is one of the most famous plots of land in the world is Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's Romanée-Conti Grand Cru. 

Speaking of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, some of the vines that they own in the region neighbor the vines from which this very wine is made, making this bottle arguably one of Burgundy's best values. Notes of dark berries, dried wild mushrooms, and baking spices lead to layers of complexity and texture due to soils of Oxfordian clay (dating back to the Jurassic period!). Pair with roast duck, rack of lamb, wild mushroom pasta, or pork chops.
