In a large pot fitted with a steamer rack, pour in a couple of inches of water. Bring to a simmer and adjust the heat to maintain. Add the artichokes, cover the pot, and steam until the hearts are tender, 30 to 35 minutes. Turn the artichokes once or twice to help them cook evenly, and add water to the pot if necessary. Microwave the herb butter until melted, 30 seconds. Cut the lemon into wedges. Transfer the artichokes to plates and serve warm, with the herb butter for dipping, and the lemon wedges for squeezing.
