Sausage and broccoli are a classic weeknight combo. Toss them simply with pasta, add a lot of cheese and a little chile, and let the bold flavors shine.
Contains: milk, wheat.
What You Get
Orecchiette pasta
Baby broccoli
Sweet Italian sausage
Grated Parmesan cheese
What You'll Need
Salt and freshly ground pepper
Olive oil
Chile flakes (optional)
Step 1
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, about 9 minutes or according to package instructions. Drain the pasta.
Step 2
Slice the baby broccoli into bite-size pieces, discarding any woody stems. In a large sauté pan over medium-high heat, warm 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add the sausage to the pan as one large, flat patty and fry until crispy and golden, flipping once, 4 minutes per side. Break the patty up into coarse chunks with a spoon. Add the broccoli and sauté until bright green and tender-crisp, 3 minutes. Turn down the heat to low.
Step 3
Add the pasta to the sausage and broccoli. Stir until the pasta is coated, 2 to 3 minutes longer. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Step 4
Heap the pasta on plates, drizzle lightly with olive oil, and sprinkle with the Parmesan. Grind with pepper, sprinkle with chile flakes, if you want some heat, and serve warm.
