The Elephant heart is a large, sumptuous plum, with deep ruby flesh, sometimes called a "blood plum". Its rich, sweet flesh is said to have vanilla and tropical overtones and the skin has a tart bite to it. Grown primarily in California, but with a Japanese heritage, its loyal fans await the Elephant Heart's arrival in the late Summer year after year.
